Matthew 3:2-3 (NIV 1984)

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” This is he [John the Baptist] who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:

“A voice of one calling in the desert,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
    make straight paths for him.’”
