Today’s Passage: Matthew 5:21-37
Message [used with permission from A Sermon for Every Sunday]: As You Wish – The Sixth Sunday after the Epiphany [2/16/20] by Father Michael Renninger, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Perhaps you’re familiar with that scene from The Princess Bride, where the impressive priest begins the wedding ceremony by saying, “Mawage. Mawage is what bwings us togever today. And wove…twue wove…will follow wherever you go.” Michael Renninger, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church preaches on a portion of the Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5:21-37, noting that “wove…twue wove” is what the princess bride’s servant boy, Westley, was talking about when he said, “As you wish.” Suppose we could learn to love Jesus enough to answer his every request by saying, “As you wish”?
