1 John 3:1 (NIV)
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
There is a difference between being one of God’s children and being a child of God. We are all His children because He is the creator of all things, but we choose to be a child of God by choosing to know Him, love Him, and obey Him. May we grow in our knowledge of who God is. May we love Him, and others, more with each passing day. May we do His will, here on earth, and follow the example of His one and only Son, Jesus, the Christ. (inspired by Reflecting God – Devotions for Holy Living, WordAction Publishing Company)
We praise Jesus because He is our life’s blood. Without Him we have no hope of having a connection to the Father. Without Him there is no peace for our burdened souls. Without Him we are hopelessly lost.
Jeremiah 31:16a (NIV)
This is what the Lord says:
“Restrain your voice from weeping
and your eyes from tears,
for your work will be rewarded,”
declares the Lord.
We have a hope… and many promises… in the Lord. As we read the Bible, we can see how God has been faithful to His people. May we find comfort in knowing that, in Him, our perseverance and righteous choices will be noted and rewarded. (inspired by Reflecting God – Devotions for Holy Living, WordAction Publishing Company)
Matthew 16:15-17 (NIV)
“But what about you?” he (Jesus) asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you Simon, son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.”
Psalm 98:1 (NIV)
Sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
The Lord is faithful. Let’s praise His holy name and make a joyful noise unto Him. (inspired by Reflecting God – Devotions for Holy Living, WordAction Publishing Company)
Father we pray today that you help us, in whatever way we need, to know your son, Jesus, in a personal way. Thank for your gift of the Messiah to our fallen world. Amen
Jude 24-25 (NIV)
To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
Praise the Lord! May we feel His loving presence every day. Let’s make this a daily praise. (inspired by Reflecting God – Devotions for Holy Living, WordAction Publishing Company)
James 1:17 (NIV)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
3 John 11 (NIV)
Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
May we know, and be known by, God. May we become a better reflection of who He is. (inspired by Reflecting God – Devotions for Holy Living, WordAction Publishing Company)
