Father, to you be honor and power and majesty forever. We praise you for your many blessings that flow from your lovingkindness. Amen.
Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.” And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.
Hebrews 10:32-39 (NIV)
Can anyone relate? Those who have ears to hear, may they hear. Those who have eyes to see, may they see. Those who have faith, may they remain faithful.
Acts 14:17 (NIV)
Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.
A day is coming.
“‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. “‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line;he will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’
For this is what the Lord says: ‘David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel, nor will the Levitical priests ever fail to have a man to stand before me continually to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to present sacrifices.’” Jeremiah 33:14-16 (NIV)
The person who sits on that throne and intercedes for us is found in the person of Jesus, the Christ.
The Lord has said, I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless as the stars in the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.’”
Jeremiah 33:22 (NIV)
May serve and minister to those around us. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
The roaring thunder of the law and the fear of the terror of judgement are both used to bring us to Christ, but the final victory culminating in our salvation is won through God’s loving-kindness. – Charles Spurgeon
The Lord, our God, is often described as holy, faithful, and loving. We are blessed to be known, loved, and taught be Him. May we claim His blessings and celebrate the life and relationship that we have with and through Him.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
love and faithfulness go before you.
15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
who walk in the light of your presence, Lord.
16 They rejoice in your name all day long;
they celebrate your righteousness.
17 For you are their glory and strength,
and by your favor you exalt our horn.
18 Indeed, our shield belongs to the Lord,
our king to the Holy One of Israel.
Psalm 89:14-18 (NIV)
Father, thank you for drawing us to you. Your unfailing kindness gives us strength even when we doubt ourselves. Help us to look beyond ourselves and to see only you. Amen.
Who is like the Lord? No one is! He is more awesome than all who surround us [vs. 7]. May we praise, honor, and worship Him.
5 The heavens praise your wonders, Lord,
your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?
7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
he is more awesome than all who surround him.
8 Who is like you, Lord God Almighty?
You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
Psalm 89:5-8 (NIV)
Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
It is important for us to be willing to testify to the love of the Lord, our God, and to testify to the free gift of eternal salvation that He offers. In accepting Jesus, as our Lord and Savior, we have entered into a covenant relationship with God. May we honor and acknowledge the Lord, our God, with all that we do and say.
1 I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.
2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
3 You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to David my servant,
4 ‘I will establish your line forever
and make your throne firm through all generations.’”[c]
Psalm 89:1-4 (NIV)
