Reflections… a Scripture verse and inspiration for daily living [5/31/19]

It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. Luke 2:26 (NIV)

“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you may now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”
Luke 2:29-32 (NIV)

In this passage we are introduced to two people, Simeon and Anna, who are focused upon the voice and work of the Holy Spirit.  They knew who the baby Jesus was and what He would do for people throughout the world.  These things had been revealed to them by the Holy Spirit.

Father God, may we be filled with the Holy Spirit.  May He reveal to us those things that You desire for us to know.  May we have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts that are open to receive all things sent to us through that wee small voice that lives within us.  In Jesus’ name, I pray.  Amen.

Passage: Luke 2:25-38
