Father, we ask that by your mercy you open our eyes to the profound truth of you grace to us. Help us to become the sons and daughters you created us to be. Amen
Verses: Matthew 10:28-32 (NIV)
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
[Remember]
“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.
Father God, I pray You will guard our hearts, minds, souls, and bodies from those that may seek to harm us in any way. May we trust that no matter what we have to endure that You will be with us – to comfort us, to reassure us, and to ultimately guide us into eternity. Trusting also in the work of Your son, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Galatians 4:4-5 (CJB)
…but when the appointed time arrived, God sent forth his Son. He was born from a woman, born into a culture in which legalistic perversion of the Torah was the norm, so that he might redeem those in subjection to this legalism and thus enable us to be made God’s sons.
Verses: Matthew 9:5-6, 12-13 (NIV)
Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins…”
Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Father God, may our hardened hearts be softened toward others that find themselves living without a relationship with You, through Christ. May we be used to guide them toward Christ. May we also remember, but for Your grace we would be eternally lost. Amen.
Father, thank you for your unfailing grace. Help us to understand that our works and our deeds are a natural outflowing of our faith in, and love for, you. These works and deeds will not get us into Heaven. Help us to know that it is our relationship with Jesus, and His grace, that will get us there. Help us to know to keep our relationship with Him key in our everyday lives. Amen
Verses: Matthew 7:24-26 (NIV)
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
Father God, I pray in the name of Jesus, that we may have ears to hear and hearts and minds, and bodies that are prepared to act. May the wisdom gained from knowing You produce fruit that endures. Amen.
Romans 11:6 (NIV)
And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
Today’s Passage: John 2:1-11
Opening Prayer: Sometimes we may say, “it is not my problem”. However, if we see a need and have the means to address it but we do not, then whose problem is it really? We may also have heard it said “we are all in this together” or “it takes a village.” How does this impact us? We, as followers of Jesus Christ, are part of God’s plan. Is our life modeled after Christ or do we model it after things of this world? Father God, we are who we are because of Your abundant mercy and grace. May we learn to share our abundance, whatever that may be, with those in need that you would have us reach. Help us to see, that while we live in this world, our desired motivation, thoughts, words, and actions are to come from you, through the work of the Holy Spirit. May we be sensitive to His promptings and follow His lead. May we heed Your call, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Message [used with permission from A Sermon for Every Sunday]: Wedding at Cana – “An Extravagant Epiphany” by Rev. Carla Pratt Keyes, Pastor of Ginter Park Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Rev. Carla Pratt Keyes preaches this week’s Gospel lesson from John 2:1-11: the story of Jesus turning water into wine. “It is such a strange sign,” she begins. “It seems almost frivolous given all the need in the world, then and today.” Why does John tell this story here, at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry? How does this story set the stage for everything else that will follow? Click the play button for a sermon full of extravagance, certainty, gladness, and community, as shared by a master preacher.

Closing Prayer: Father God, forgive us for continuing to look around for signs that you exist. Are we oblivious or are we just in some kind of self-centered denial? There are signs all around us – in Your amazing creation and in the lives of Your people! They reveal to us Your power, creativity, and love. Help us to see Your miracles more clearly, rather than dismiss them as coincidence, chance, or something produced at the hand of a person. May we sense Your awesome presence in our everyday lives. May we express our gratitude by choosing to more closely follow Your son, Jesus. Amen.
Verse: Matthew 7:7-12 (NIV)
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Father God, may Your will be done in the lives of those who seek You. We thank You for Your daily provision and Your abundant mercy and grace. May we learn to fully trust in You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
Amazing love, now flowing down
From hands and feet that were nailed to the tree
As grace flows down and covers me
(Song lyrics by Passion)
