Making Maine Holiday Gifts from the Kitchen

The River Run Church of the Nazarene will kick off the Watershed Community Garden and Food Pantry Project with a special holiday event on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM at the DetroitTown Hall, located at 35 South Main Street in Detroit, Maine.  Snow date is Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.  This event is open to the public.  Coffee, tea, and hot cocoa will be available.  Admission to this event is by a donation of non-perishable food, personal care items, or a cash contribution to River Run’s food pantry. 

After a brief introduction to The Watershed Community Garden and Food Pantry Project, join us to learn how to make special holiday gifts from the kitchen.  In addition to seeing demonstrations on how to make several gifts to share with family and friends, those attending will receive 1) written instructions on how to prepare the gifts, 2) sample gift cards, and 3) the opportunity to win one of the prepared gifts or special colored gift card sets.

A special silent auction fundraiser, with possible simple Christmas gifts, is also planned.  Silent auction proceeds will be used to support The Watershed Community Garden and Food Pantry Project.

Post Thanksgiving Day Community Potluck Dinner to be Held

DETROIT, ME—

The River Run Church of the Nazarene has scheduled a post Thanksgiving Day Community Potluck Dinner for Friday, November 23, 2012.  This event is open to the public, free of charge, and will be held at the Detroit Town Hall, located at 35 South Main Street in Detroit, Maine.   We will also be accepting donations of non-perishable food, personal care items, or cash in support of The Watershed Community Garden and Food Pantry Project.  A silent auction fundraiser, with possible simple Christmas gifts, is also planned.

The post Thanksgiving Day Community Potluck Dinner will be a special gathering for individuals and families from the area.  The potluck dinner is scheduled to begin at 1 PM.  The River Run Church of the Nazarene family will provide turkey pie, coleslaw, beverages, and pie for dessert.  If you would like to join us for dinner on the 23rd, we ask each individual or family to bring a salad, side dish, or a special dessert to share with everyone.  If you are planning to attend, please join us about 12:45 PM for final dinner set up. 

In addition, please feel free to join us any Sunday for our study group and worship service.  Our church meets each Sunday in the Detroit Town Hall.  We begin our adult Bible study group at 9:15 AM, followed by our Morning Worship Service at 10:30 AM.
