Exodus 20:3 (NIV 1984)
 “You shall have no other gods before me.”

The Ten Commandments [Exodus 20:1-17] contain such words of wisdom!  They are instructions from God – containing information on how we are to relate to Him and to others.  Our relationship to God is a covenant.  As the featured verse indicates, we are to have no other gods before Him.  Let’s not allow anyone or anything to step into the position that the Lord, our God, should have in our lives.  (inspired by Reflecting God – Devotions for Holy Living, WordAction Publishing Company)

This is what the Lord says:
“Restrain your voice from weeping
    and your eyes from tears,
for your work will be rewarded,”
    declares the Lord.

We have a hope… and many promises… in the Lord.  As we read the Bible, we can see how God has been faithful to His people.  May we find comfort in knowing that, in Him, our perseverance and righteous choices will be noted and rewarded. Thanks… and Happy New Year!

While the River Run Church blog has intended to encourage, inspire, and bless those who visit or follow the site, I have discovered an added benefit.  I have been personally enriched.  In preparing the blog posts, I have drawn closer to God.  In trying to learn more about those that are visiting, following, or “liking” blog posts, my world has been expanded.  I have gained a new appreciation for all those from around the corner or across the globe who are seeking to know and relate to God in a more meaningful way.  I pray that each of you may be blessed with a closer walk with the Lord in 2013.  I pray that you will continue to allow the River Run Church to be a small part in your journey.  I look forward, with great anticipation, to what the Lord will do in the coming year.  Blessing to all… in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Micah 5:2b (NIV 1984)

    one who will be ruler over Israel,
